Bluetooth What Is It

Bluetooth What is it? Bluetooth is a wireless communication specification that is used to create Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs), enabling communication among mobile phones, computers, wireless headsets, PMPs and personal digital assistants (PDAs). using a short-range wireless connection. Bluetooth was ratified as the IEEE standard and referred to as IEEE 802.15.1. Bluetooth technology is named after the 10th century Viking King Harald Bluetooth, who united Norway and Denmark.

The Bluetooth technology involves a low-cost transceiver chip to be included in each communicating device that uses the frequency band of 2.45 GHz. The connections can be point-to-point or multipoint. Bluetooth devices generally communicate at less than 1 Mbps within the distance range up to 10 meters only.

Most Bluetooth phones are "class 2", which means the Bluetooth feature has a range of up to 30 feet. Class 1 phones (which are rare) can have a range of up to 300 feet.

Wireless Standard is a type of wireless connection, somewhat similar to wi-fi. Bluetooth is used to help cut costs for cabling, because it is a much easier way to enable wireless networking.

Bluetooth does not just cut costs. In PAN (personal area networks) it frees mobile workers to work unhindered, manages multiple devices, and operates at competent speeds.
